UNITY DAY- October 25, 2017

On Wednesday, October 25, Riverton School will be participating in Unity Day 2017.  This is a day the Riverton School community will come together and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. We invite all students and staff to wear the color orange that day to show that we care about making Riverton a school where everyone feels safe and empowered to teach and to learn.

During the announcements that morning, all Riverton students will be repeating a pledge to stand up against bullying. The pledge is “I am a kid against bullying! I will speak up when I see bullying, reach out to others who are bullied, and be a friend whenever I see bullying.”

During the school day, classrooms will be invited to create a visual

UNITY statement! Students will write a message of kindness on an ORANGE strip of paper. The paper strips will be linked together in class to create one long chain which visually represents uniting for a common cause. Each classroom chain will then be connected to the other classroom chains and displayed around the halls of the school to visually represent the power of uniting against bullying.
