About Me

Hello! My name is Taryn and I am a mom of two, wife, and teacher.  My son, Cassian, is five and a kindergartener.  He loves baseball, reading, and mazes. My daughter, Isla, is three-and-a-half and is a little social butterfly.  She loves anything Cassian loves as well as her pink bear, Love Bear.  My husband and I met in high school, in Maine, and moved to Virginia for ten years.  We happily excepted a transfer back to Maine and are thrilled to be close to both of our families.  I enjoy spending summer weekends at my family's camp on Sebago, family dinners, reading to my kids and for pleasure, and cheering on the Patriots.

How Did I Get Here?

I have known since I was little that I wanted to be a teacher; I have always had a connection with young children.  In high school I wanted to be a pediatrician but within a few months at The George Washington University I was tutoring for Heads Up, a community organization that enlists university students to provide after-school academic enrichment and mentoring to children in several of Washington, D.C.’s poorest neighborhoods. This only furthered my love and commitment to teaching and service learning, and introduced me to other areas in my community.  After college I became an early education teacher and learned quickly that I loved being with preschool aged children—I loved exposing them to new experiences that got them curious about the world.  My next natural step was receiving a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning through the Extended Teacher Education Program at the University of Southern Maine.
